The Lil House That Could
- Published on Thursday, 10 May 2012
Remember way back when we started planning this nursery, when my very first nursery purchase was a pair of Jonathan Adler giraffe sconces? Well, yesterday they finally went on the wall!
I can tell you nothing about the install process– Mike and his dad did everything, but Mike did snap some in-progress photos for you with his...

A few days ago, I showed you how I stenciled the nursery closet using Cutting Edge Stencil’sPolka Dot Allover Stencil…
Now is your chance to give stenciling a shot! Cutting Edge Stencils is offering one lucky Lil House reader a stencil of their choice, up to a $50 value!
Here are some of my personal favorite stencils, in...
Professional Maternity Photos
- Published on Monday, 07 May 2012
A few weeks ago, Mike and I had some professional maternity pictures done. Way back when I used to think of being pregnant, I always wanted to have some photos of the two of us done to remember what it was like to have a giant belly. Then I got pregnant and felt less than glamorous, so I figured we could skip the maternity photos...
A Stenciled Closet
- Published on Friday, 04 May 2012
Around the holidays, Cutting Edge Stencils contacted me and asked if I would be interested in reviewing one of their stencils. Since I was already a fan and own one of their stencils, of course I said yes! Problem was that we hadn’t yet started the nursery and I wanted to stencil the ceiling. Thankfully, they told me I could...
Sorry, I’m Seeing Dots
- Published on Wednesday, 02 May 2012
Please excuse my absence today, I’ve been working on finishing this up…
I’ve discovered that my threshold is 6 full sheets of stencil a day, which is 270 dots, which is what you see above. After that I lose steam and need to stop, even with Mike doing the aligning, taping and removal for me. This giant thing makes...
We’re Missing A Screw
- Published on Tuesday, 01 May 2012
You know how sometimes things have to look worse before they look better? That seems to be the case with our nursery progress as of this weekend.
(Sorry pictures are a little blurry today, it’s rainy out and I took them this morning before putting my contacts in. Whoops.)
We set out to conquer a bunch of things on our to-do...
ABC, Easy As?
- Published on Thursday, 26 April 2012
Confession: I love lettering, typography, whatever you want to call it. I’ve known forever that I wanted to make some sort of alphabet art for the baby’s room, but I put off actually making something until I had a better idea of the space. Now that we have the elusive glider and ordered a bookcase, I know that we can...
The Missing Furniture Piece
- Published on Wednesday, 25 April 2012
The last time you saw the nursery, the furniture was arranged with the glider in the corner.
Oh and there’s a Mamaroo temporarily in the other corner. We just put it together and wanted to make sure it worked. The point is, there’s a giant empty wall next to the glider.
I was waiting to have the glider to decide what type...
Family Room Hardwoods
- Published on Monday, 23 April 2012
In the midst of the glider chaos of last week, we forgot to tell you something.
Not only did we decide to go with hardwood in our family room (we discussed the reasoning here), but it was delivered and installed.
We didn’t have much time to flip flop on our decision and just decided that the carpet had to go… and quickly....
Have Glider? Will Travel.
- Published on Thursday, 19 April 2012
Yesterday, Mike spilled the beans that we were able to hunt down the glider we were unable to buy on Monday. He also spilled the beans that he was born in Staten Island. That’s another story for another day, but I guess good things come from Staten Island!
How did we get it? Well, after I was slightly depressed after returning...
