Linking up to Centsational Girl's Cookiepalooza Party
I make spritz cookies every week starting December 1st.
"The name spritz comes from the German word spritzen, meaning "to squirt" because the soft dough is squirted or pushed through a cookie press to make fancy designs.
Butter is responsible for the tender, rich...

Desk Drawer
I am an organized person. I have always been that way-my half of the room I shared with my sister was always clean/organized/decorated as best as my pre-teen self could muster. I would read my Mom's Woman's Day and Family Circle magazines, and try my hand at their projects and recipes-and whenever then had "tips" on...

Here's our tree for 2011- all seven feet of memories.
Night time, all lit up...

Christmas trees are scrapbooks-a microcosm of one's life told via three dimensional objects.
Whether hand made of store bought, ornaments are a very personal statement-and rightly so.

Renovation Realities is a show on HGTV that shows goobers working on stuff they should be leaving to pros-or should not be doing until they get a lil experience under their belts. We find it fun to watch people vying for that illusive Darwin award :P
But RR's got nothing on our semi-reno that went down last week...
We know when our...

I ♥ Gingerbread
I ♥ it from Starbucks, in a skinny decaf latte, or in a home baked loaf, cookies and/or candy.
I ♥ it in candle form, soap form, and I 'm pretty sure I'd wear it in perfume form if Calvin Klein made it.
The smell means Christmas to me...it reminds me, believe it or not, of playing out in the snow-on...

We always start with Mark's grandmother's mantel clock...
We have a love affair with stars...both of us, individually, have adored the starfields of the night sky for as long as we remember.
Our last name even has the word STAR in it :)
I love the sparkle of the three-d stars and the mercury glass.
The hologram garland adds a...

Our holiday table is simple, sparkly, and serene.
This is our Boomer-he loves to help with everything we do in the house! He loves bling,
and dressing up, and if he could chose to be a different animal, he'd be a show pony-no doubt about it.
With plumes!
I've had these reindeer for years-I believe they came from

My daughter is a fan with a capital "F" of anything blingy, shabby chicky, and old worldy.
She also qualifies as a Francophile and an Anglophile. So does her twin brother. Just less bling for him :P
Think Audrey Hepburn mixed with Doris Day.
Who's crazy organized.
With a French accent.
And who loves animals :)

Every year around this time our small town has a Christmas Parade. It lasts about 45 minutes, and local shops and agencies put together floats with lights and whimsy. The floats glide down mainstreet, with the kids waiting for that last one that holds SANTA!
Just like Macy's!
Ok, maybe Macy's hillbilly second cousin.

This year's T-day was the first one in five years where I felt at peace; happy, relaxed and content.
Last year felt like I was having that kind of dream when you realize you are in the wrong place at the wrong time and everything-just everything-is WRONG. I didn't cook, the twins were in NY, and Mark and I were newlyweds...
