Authors: GiGiOur nanny is in the swing of things. T still sobs when I leave, but I stand in the garage to listen for him and he stops moments after I'm through the door. When I walk in at the end of my day, they are always playing so sweetly.
This morning I went for a run (week 6, day 2 of Couch25K) and it felt fantastic. It was two ten...
On Having a Second Kid
- Published on Tuesday, 07 February 2012
Authors: GiGiI drove down a street in our neighborhood yesterday that I don't normally drive down. I remembered a walk I took T on when he was about 9 months old.
It was hell.
He wanted to stand in the stroller, I'd forgotten the Becco/Ergo/Carrier, and when I finally let him "do" his thing, he wanted to sit on the ground and play with garbage....
The fan works!
- Published on Saturday, 04 February 2012
Authors: GiGiThe first time we used our fan (cooking a ton of bacon in the oven) it recycled the air back into the kitchen.
When we told our contractor about it, he said it was because it was a cheap fan and they did that.
My fantastic magical husband fixed it.
And I'm making the smokiest (and best) roasted whole chicken right now and you wouldn't...

Authors: GiGiF the budget.
I want my kitchen done.
I went to a discount fabric warehouse yesterday. Bought myself some clear vinyl fabric. For the sofa.
For the banquette in the kitchen. I got anxious, and decided to just order away. Why was I waiting for the laminated fabric to come off backorder, when I could do it myself?! So, I ordered...
Kitchen Updates - Now we're getting somewhere
- Published on Monday, 30 January 2012
This garbage can was empty before I threw out all the food that was wasted when our contractor forgot to plug back in the deep freeze.
On the plus side...how cute is this pig on her new grey walls?
The red bench will go soon - and the micro and coffee maker are going to find new homes as well...
Here it is
I started the first coat of...
Scary Nanny Experience Number 2
- Published on Sunday, 29 January 2012
Authors: GiGiT has been in a daycare for about a year.
We found it on craigslist, last minute after I got scared away from his nannyshare.
It has been a dream come true. Ever since T went back two weeks ago (after Bubbs started working again), T's been a little anxious about going in the morning, but we know he's happy there.
We got word on...
Kitchen Update - We Have Paint!
- Published on Friday, 27 January 2012
So the contractor didn't offer to pay for the meat. And he got a little testy when I told him about it.
AND, somehow we decided to have him paint AND tile the backsplash.
Him taking his time = me having less time to do projects = him getting more work. F.
Anyway - wouldn't you have a freak out if this is your house?

Authors: GiGiUm, frustration can't begin to let you know how I'm feeling.
So, for two days now, someone from the "crew" has shown up, done a miniscule amount of work and left saying they needed more parts.
At this point they have two things left to do: hook up the sink and move our stove back in. So, we're doing dishes in the bathroom, have no...
Holy Moley New Fridge
- Published on Tuesday, 24 January 2012
Authors: GiGiOur new fridge is coming tomorrow - waaaa hoooo! Our last fridge took three weeks to arrive so I'm floored this one is coming so soon!
I'm at work today so I have no idea how close to being done they are. We still have painting to do and fixing up of other stuff...but can it be that we're almost done?

Authors: GiGiWhen I was teaching my kid to play with blocks the other day, he learned the phrase "on top."
So now everything goes on top.
This was our kitchen in November:
Isn't that tile cute?
Now do you think it is cute?
Finally convincing him to TRY demo.
