Letterbox 88

Letterbox 88 is our creaky old queenslander in the countryside, just outside of Brisbane, Australia. We moved here a year ago with the two cats and now we have Baby as well. I'm a clothes horse, cook, collector, decorator, op shop addict and arranger of things.

Wooden pallet verandah daybed couch

Authors: Lavender

Hello, here's the newest finished project here at number 88, a daybed for the back verandah.

I'm really happy with the way this has turned out. It's huge and perfect for a napping on long hot afternoons. Or getting comfy with a pile of books.

This is what it looks like among the toys and table that take up the rest of the...

Autumn, yay! (Mostly about clothes)

Authors: Lavender

Hello! What a long time it's been.

It's officially Autumn now. How completely glorious.

At the moment everything looks like this.

It's all very monsoonal and muddy. When the sun comes out and hits the mud puddles the land steams and the air is like breathing soup, as opposed to the ground being like soup, which it also is.

No...

One last Osaka post

Authors: Lavender

This is the last of the posts I wrote in Japan. Seeing it lurking in my drafts folder is making me pine to be back there and I need to purge-post before I can move on with the shiny new year.

Yesterday we caught the train to Nara with N, a friend of ours. Here she is helping the Baby feed a deer. I am standing a few feet away...

Stendig calendar and other living room bits

Authors: Lavender

Good morning, Happy New Year. I was in bed by 11.30pm last night because I'm super hardcore these days. Baby likes to wake up with the sun at the moment though, so I'm just as tired as if I'd partied late.

To prepare for the first of the first I hung up my 2013 Stendig calendar yesterday.

It's big. I knew it was big when I...

I am Newing - (Osaka part 3)

Authors: Lavender

Yes you are, surprised and/or shouting lady.

We came across her on the way to the Osaka Zoo in Tennoji Park.

I wore my Gorman leopard print coat and was unintentionally zoo-themed.

It was cold out so when J bought this can of hot chocolate from a vending machine the Baby nicked it to have as a hand warmer.

The zoo itself made...

Textiles and Roadworks (Osaka part 2)

Authors: Lavender

Here's our Japanese postcard view. Layers upon vertical layers woven together like knotted extension cords. Lights, pachinko and bike racks.

The Baby likes to sit on the window sill and rest his forehead on the glass. He looks down and points at things.

Today's outfit. The Bassike relaxed cotton pants and I are such BFFs. With...

Coming back to Osaka

Authors: Lavender

This is me. Deeply happy. Whiskey, hotel pyjamas and slippers at around 1am last night after we finally made it to our hotel.

The baby was a dream, in a vision, in a ball of awesome on the flight. Just look at him having a nap in the bassinet.

In quiet moments on the plane I read Caitlin Moran's collection of articles...

Grandmas have the best gardens

Authors: Lavender

Just look.

And here. Gorgeous. All the grandparents in my life are green thumbed. I like to assume I will suddenly wake up a talented gardener when I reach years of distinction too.

The Baby loved helping his Great Grandma.

He's been rocking this hat we bought him in Kuranda. So Oz.

Here's an outfit snap from a messy Cairns...

On the Atherton Tablelands

Authors: Lavender

We're home from our family hols today. It was such a good time. I have a whole slew of posts J wouldn't let me publish from the road in case robbers who read blogs knew we were on holidays. It's his first world paranoia. So now we will have ALL travel snaps ALL the time for a few weeks while I catch up. Possibly interspersed...
