Blog of the Month - October 2011

houseblogging-blogofthemonthbadge-october2011

Over at Our Concrete Home, Andrea, Nate, and their two feline friends (Pixel & Loki) are busy making their concrete block house a home. Since purchasing their 1950's house in 2009, they've filled their blog with details on all kinds of DIY projects (including painting inside and out, replacing windows and doors, removing tired landscaping and tearing out old flooring, to name a few). Alongside their project work, they're sharing some decorating inspiration, their entertaining adventures, and the experience of being featured on Bath Crashers. Our personal favorite, though, are the Feline Friday posts featuring all of Pixel and Loki's mischief … they make us smile every time! Be sure to stop on over and get to know this great blog … we're sure you won't be disappointed!

My bedroom closet NOW (The new reality)

I had grand plans to have a very organized and minimal wardrobe once the baby came. I envisioned that I would shed most of the baby weight and be back in my regular clothing by January. I expected that my active and healthy lifestyle before baby would give me an advantage in recovery.

Things turned out a little different from my...

Is Ruby really almost one?

Authors: Andrea

Geez – it’s been a long while since I last wrote a blog post. Even if I had the time to write a post this last year, I had no idea what I was going to write about. We’ve put most of our home projects on a long freeze to focus on the little one and our transition into parenting.

The first year with Ruby has been...

Feline Friday: His quadrant

Authors: Andrea

Loki has recently chosen the bottom quadrants of our coffee table legs to be his favorite sleeping spot. It allows the perfect amount of cover if an intruder were to attack plus he can use the legs to rub against. It’s a win win for the orange dragon. ...

Bedroom Closet Part 3: Finishing the framing, drywall, mud and painting

Authors: Andrea

Boy do I love this photo of Pixel a.k.a. the manager of home improvement projects. She’s always close by to make sure we don’t shit up.

Let’s take a time machine back to March when Dad and I were finishing up this bedroom closet project (read about the whole project from the start here, here and here). Remember I...
