Blog of the Month - October 2011

houseblogging-blogofthemonthbadge-october2011

Over at Our Concrete Home, Andrea, Nate, and their two feline friends (Pixel & Loki) are busy making their concrete block house a home. Since purchasing their 1950's house in 2009, they've filled their blog with details on all kinds of DIY projects (including painting inside and out, replacing windows and doors, removing tired landscaping and tearing out old flooring, to name a few). Alongside their project work, they're sharing some decorating inspiration, their entertaining adventures, and the experience of being featured on Bath Crashers. Our personal favorite, though, are the Feline Friday posts featuring all of Pixel and Loki's mischief … they make us smile every time! Be sure to stop on over and get to know this great blog … we're sure you won't be disappointed!

DIY Bridal Shower

Authors: Andrea

Three of my bridesmaids and my lovely sister threw me a DIY Bridal Shower a few weeks back. It was a great afternoon with good food, great friends and safety goggles. Who couldn’t ask for more?

When they first offered to throw me one, my first instinct was to decline. Let me explain. I’ve been trying to downplay this...

My little clock update

Authors: Andrea

Many weeks ago I picked up this dated plastic clock at a thrift shop. It was $0.99 and I thought it had nice lines and the face swiveled so I brought it home.

For some reason, this little clock reminded me of the appliances in the The Brave Little Toaster. I was lucky enough to have a little sister who loved watching this movie over...

Our engagement story

I recorded this video back in November when the day was still fresh in my mind. Enjoy!

Photos from the day

Here’s the photo I sent our to friends with my ring. Notice the teal nails and a slight greenish tint to my hand from the Color Run earlier that day.

This is a fruit bouquet Dagny gave me to congratulate us on the engagement...

An organized kitchen like Mom’s

Authors: Andrea

That’s my mom and sister Ali in the photo above. They are making pretzels for our annual Alt Thanksgiving a few years back. They are probably going to hate me for featuring this photo, but I really love it.

We spend a lot of time in my parents’ kitchen. It truly is the heart of their house. My mother is the most amazing...

World’s Most Awesome Cat Calendar

Authors: Andrea

I saw this Kickstarter project yesterday and it made me so happy I wanted to share.

The opening headline says it all -

“Do you enjoy photos of cats dressed up as magical creatures? Do you use a calendar? Yes? Then we have something awesome for you.”

This calendar looks amazing and yes I plan on funding the project. The only...

A late January Recap

Authors: Andrea

I swear 2013 is flying by way too fast. It’s already the third week of February and I still haven’t posted my January summary. I am changing the format of these posts yet again. In my attempt to simplify, I am just calling these recaps instead of favorites so I have free rein on what I include. Watch out!

January 2013...
