Blog of the Month - October 2011

houseblogging-blogofthemonthbadge-october2011

Over at Our Concrete Home, Andrea, Nate, and their two feline friends (Pixel & Loki) are busy making their concrete block house a home. Since purchasing their 1950's house in 2009, they've filled their blog with details on all kinds of DIY projects (including painting inside and out, replacing windows and doors, removing tired landscaping and tearing out old flooring, to name a few). Alongside their project work, they're sharing some decorating inspiration, their entertaining adventures, and the experience of being featured on Bath Crashers. Our personal favorite, though, are the Feline Friday posts featuring all of Pixel and Loki's mischief … they make us smile every time! Be sure to stop on over and get to know this great blog … we're sure you won't be disappointed!

A late January Recap

Authors: Andrea

I swear 2013 is flying by way too fast. It’s already the third week of February and I still haven’t posted my January summary. I am changing the format of these posts yet again. In my attempt to simplify, I am just calling these recaps instead of favorites so I have free rein on what I include. Watch out!

Early Spring Clean and Rug Switcheroo

Authors: Andrea

I’m a little behind at posting. Nate and I both have been battling horrible head colds which means we’ve spent a lot of time on the couch watching House of Cards.

Last Monday, we both felt it was necessary to get the sickness out of our house so we deep cleaned. Perhaps a little much for two cold suffers to undertake, but...

The tall task of organizing my digital photos

Authors: Andrea

One of my 2013 personal goals is to organize all my digital photos from 2005-2012 so I can 1) find photos when I need them and 2) enjoy them. (I don’t even what to think of all the printed photos and negatives I have to go through as well. That’s a project for an another year.)

I took a look at my external hard drive and...

2013 Goals and an office reveal

Authors: Andrea

I’ve had a post scheduled about my office for the last six months. I haven’t hit publish because I never thought it was quite ready.

But today I decided to revisit the post and turn it into a post about my 2013 goals instead. Why? Well the office space is a perfect example of my #1 goal to finish projects. I&#821...

Thrifting weekend

Authors: Andrea

I love Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ song Thrift Store.  Obviously others agree because it just hit #1 on the Billboard Chart this week. Pretty cool for a duo that hasn’t signed to a major label. Not only is the song catchy, but what I truly love about it is sums up my young adulthood. Thinking of thrift shopping really...

Kitchen update with white, yellow and black(board) paint

Authors: Andrea

Since we are in a waiting pattern on the prison bath and roof, I’ve decided to tackle a bunch of small projects to keep me busy. (Idle hands and all….)

Small Project #1: Kitchen Update

My first project has been updating our most neglected but most used room, our kitchen. Eventually, we will be renovating the kitchen...

2012 Favorites

Authors: Andrea

A little secret – I love watching YouTube videos when I run on my treadmill. Since I am training for a half marathon, I’ve been watching a ton. My favorites are health and beauty related. Recently, a lot of my favorite channels have posted a “Best of the Year” video featuring favorite products and tips. I...
