Boot Straps

Authors: Amy

As of last Tuesday, Bob will no longer be working on our house.

What exactly does that mean for us?  It just means we had to reach down and grab our boot straps.  We’re going to finish what we can ourselves.  D had been working on it night and day anyway.  Our parents have helped in more ways that we can explain, we lucked out wit...

(Re)Finishing Touches

Authors: Amy

As of this week, we will be finishing the house on our own.

And by we, I mean D.  And our dads, and our neighbors, and some good friends.  Really and truly don’t know what we’d do without them.  D and my dad have been working at their jobs every day, then working on the house every night.  I stay home and wrangle Junior.  And...

A Belated Birthday Party

Authors: Amy

Junior turned a year old last month, but I’ve been stubbornly pushing his party back so that we could have it in the new house.  But after a month, we decided we should go ahead and celebrate now.  We’ll have plenty of birthdays to celebrate once we’re in, right?  Right!

I’d been postponing so wholeheartedly,...

Pass It On

Authors: Amy

When Karianne at Thistlewood Farms approached me about participating in the Pass It On Project, I didn’t hesitate for two reasons.  One, because it’s Karianne.  And two, because couldn’t we all use a little extra joy in our lives?  It is a great idea and one I was thrilled to be a part of.

How it works is simple.  She...

You Light Up My Life

Authors: Amy

Yesterday, I mentioned that I had a fun outdoor surprise to show you.  But then the boys worked late last night and it turns out I have all sorts of fun things to show you!

Bob the Builder gets 100% credit for this detail, because neither one of us would have ever thought about it or known how to get our paws on it.  But Bob thought we...

Concrete, Y’all.

Authors: Amy

But Bob the Builder and the fellas were hard at it all weekend, and made some great progress.

Wanted to show you the concrete they poured and stamped real quick.

This, obviously is the landing pad off the garage.  It’s hard to see the detail in this picture, but here it is up close.

Neat, right?

They also got the sidewalk that wraps...

Dining Room

Authors: Amy

We don’t have a dining room table.

Well, we had one, and I actually really liked it, but it was round and our new dining room isn’t.  So we sold it.

This is it in my townhouse.

Nice, but just wouldn’t fit the new space quite right.  So we saved a few of the applewood boards to make a harvest table.

Something like this.

(v...

I Married MacGyver

Authors: Amy

D is one of the most handy fellas I’ve ever encountered.

I liked it so I put a ring on it.

He pretty thoroughly remodeled his house before we sold it last year, and I was completely impressed by how he either already knew how to do everything, or if he didn’t, he figured it out and it turned out great.

The island in our...

So close…

Authors: Amy

…But not quite there.

However, we got some important steps accomplished in the past week.

Carpet was installed.

Junior’s room.

Guest room.

The same color went in the master bedroom, but I neglected to take a picture of that.

Our sinks and counter tops arrived and were installed.

Again, I neglected to take a picture in the master,...

His and Hers – A Guest Post

Authors: Amy

Hi guys!

I’m guest posting at one of my very favorite blogs today!

Are you familiar with His and Hers?

If not, head on over there, follow em, and then come back and thank me.

Erin, the “her” asked if I’d be interested and I jumped all over it because they have such a great mix of creativity, vision, tips, and down...
