The Changing House

This blog captures the many adventures of a young married couple as they undergo renovations, decorating, diy, cooking and photography!

Some newness.

Authors: Deanna @ TheChangingHouse

I've decided that this is a part-time blog.
When I started TheChangingHouse, I had a different opinion on the matter.
I wanted to be as popular as cappuccinos for breakfast, or Nutella for lunch (is that just at my house??) but I've learned that full-time blogging is hard work.
I don't want to discourage anyone...

The basement flooring is finally all complete.  The tiles were completed here and now you can see the laminate flooring.
In these pictures, we're installing some furniture!  Of course we need to install it, because it comes from Ikea.  And, like any trip to Ikea, when you come home, you end up with...

Remember we were working on basement renovations?  Ya, that seemed like such a long time ago.  Sometimes things take time.  And that's okay.  All projects take time.
So, here are some pictures to share with you!  Look at the fun we're having!

Healthy rice and lentil salad.

Authors: Deanna @ TheChangingHouse

This recipe happened by accident, but I'm glad it did.

To summarize:
 - I had leftover rice.
 - I had a craving for lentils.
 - I had thawed some peas for this recipe but that never got made.
 - My clothes are getting a little snug, so I needed something light.
 - My celery was looking a...

How to clean stainless steel appliances.

Authors: Deanna @ TheChangingHouse

I used to wonder why we bought so many stainless steel appliances.  Yes, they look beautiful, but onlywhen they are clean.  And to make them clean was not an easy task.  After I would spend hours removing all the fingerprints, I would get awful visible streaks.  No matter what I would try, my...

Updated bathroom pictures.

Like I mentioned to you here, I'm still in the process of updating my house pictures with my new camera. So, while we are laying these Pastorelli tiles in the basement, I thought I would show you the updated pictures I took of our main floor bathroom!

And here is a small pic to give you an idea of what...

Chocolate dipped pretzel with a caramel twist.

Authors: Deanna @ TheChangingHouse

That's a pretty long name for something so small, but they deserve their long name because they are amazing.  If I called them sticks, you wouldn't really care, but when I say I just made a chocolate dipped pretzel with a caramel twist, suddenly you become interested.  And you should be interested...

Selling Nemo.

I've mentioned in the past that we have a fish tank in our basement.  It's a beautiful saltwater tank.  And it doesn't just contain fish; we have snails, crabs, shrimp, corals and a clam.  We could spend hours just looking at the tank.  Saltwater aquariums are just amazingly beautiful.

I want...
