We have each other and (after lots of saving) we finally have a house. Now it's time to transform it into a home. But, with limited time and money, we're in for a challenge. Please come along for the ride!
Slowly but surely
- Published on Saturday, 03 March 2012
Authors: Sally + SteveThings are slowly, but surely, happening around here...
Steve and his Dad were going to pull down the pergola along the side of the house yesterday, but it rained all day so that didn't end up happening. We went for a drive up through the Dandenongs instead, which was beautiful. Nothing beats driving through a...

Authors: Sally + Steve:: Olinda Teahouse
The location, the architect-designed building, the food, the service - all amazing. Located in Olinda, Victoria, and highly recommended.
:: Bosisto's Eucalyptus Spray
I've long been a fan of traditional eucalyptus oil for cleaning (it's all-natural, awesome on anything...
A new view
- Published on Thursday, 16 February 2012
Authors: Sally + SteveBack here, we mentioned the monsters in our backyard. The very-ugly, water-sucking, light-blocking monsters that were nearly enough to put us off buying the house. Cypresses.
We'd been planning for some time to approach our neighbours about having them trimmed. Significantly trimmed - like lopped off...
A New Year, a new start

Authors: Sally + SteveHappy New Year!
Sorry we've been missing for a while around here - we enjoyed a lovely holiday over Christmas, and took an extended break from house stuff until this weekend. To be honest, we needed the break. With the frantic sanding, puttying and sanding, and then the new doors finally going in late last year,...

Authors: Sally + SteveFinally, after weeks and weeks of puttying, staining and sanding, the doors are in...
Not quite finished as you can see from the pics below (no arcs yet), but in nevertheless! A huge thanks goes to my Uncle George, who did an awesome job. The front door in particular was really hard to get in...
The best time of year
- Published on Sunday, 04 December 2011
Authors: Sally + SteveI love December.
It kicks off with my birthday on the 1st. And it was a great birthday this year - I was truly spoilt and felt surprisingly positive about being another year older (I'm closer to 30 than 20 now - how did that happen?!)
Steve had his first work Christmas party on Friday night, so I had a great time...
Bedroom suite for sale!
- Published on Tuesday, 15 November 2011
Authors: Sally + SteveAfter a lot of toing and froing, we've decided to sell our bedroom suite.
Our mattress is on its last legs, and we decided that rather than replace it with another Queen we'd really like a King (we're both big bed hogs... actually, truthfully, I'm the big bed hog!). A bigger mattress, of course, means a new bed....
Another door debacle
- Published on Monday, 14 November 2011
Authors: Sally + SteveLook what finally arrived last week...
Despite being excited that we finally have it safely at home, the delivery was a huge debacle. The door was scheduled to arrive on Tuesday, yet on Monday morning at 8.00am Steve got a phone call from the delivery driver...
Ebay delivers again (and a general update)
- Published on Tuesday, 01 November 2011
Authors: Sally + SteveAs documented here, we had some recent success on ebay when we sold our chandeliers. So, we decided to try our luck again with our old futon, having decided that we'd prefer a higher double bed for our planned guest room.
In short, ebay delivered again!
We started the bidding at $40.00, not expecting to get much more...
Country dreaming - Kyneton
- Published on Tuesday, 25 October 2011
Authors: Sally + SteveI spend more time than I care to admit on www.realestate.com.au, looking at beautiful rural properties and dreaming about a move to country Victoria.
Steve grew up in Gippsland, and I spent a lot of time at my grandparents' farm in South Gippsland, so we're both country people at heart. We'd love to have a...
