Madison Square
Two married architects living in an 1870's brick rowhouse on a garden block in Center City Philadelphia. We work, we work on our house, we take pictures with our iphones and try to write a little something that makes sense. What you see is what we did… it’s just how we roll.

It’s almost our fourth Halloween on Madison Square and our living room is almost ready for the big time in terms of decorating! We’re starting small, with things we have on hand:
A peek of our new window in the reflection:
This level of ‘done’ is almost too much to handle!
Here’s a recap…

Kelly finished painting the ceiling border and took down the masking tape this weekend so we are now working on the finishing touches in the Living Room!
Our rewired, eBay special, antique Victorian light is installed inside the painted ellipse!
We actually mocked up both of the eBay special antique lights that we bought and...

We did more of the same today, but in reverse order… painting, then grilling.
Kelly finished rolling the living room ceiling border (Here is looking at Kelly through the stained glass window)
And she undertook the exciting task of finally (and carefully) pulling off the masking tape! Finish pictures still to come…

We took advantage of this beautiful Saturday to run some errands and do some grilling. We probably don’t have too much of this nice weather left this season…
However after dinner it was time to get some work done!
The bow stained glass window trim has been Lilac since we primed it back in July! So tonight I applied...

The past three years, Rob & I have volunteered as “directors” of the zig-zagging SWCC run thru our neighborhood… as in we “direct” others which to run down by pointing and cheering. (It works for us. )
Last year and again this year they are highly encouraging participants to dress in costume!...

For us, the fall garden is just a natural progression of our summer garden… without the daily watering.
Begonias (light pink) love this weather, and while the impatiens and hosta don’t care for it quite as much, they’re still holding their own, for now:
We’re making up for the zero garden effort with our...

Our very first Madison Square purchase was a 1940′s mirror for above our mantel at an antique shop near Onancock, VA, the weekend before we settled. It seemed HUGE when we bought it, but that mirror ended up being too small at ‘only’ ~ 28″ x 36″ (but perfect for our walk in closet). Ever since we...

This weekend we checked out the newly opened Catherine Park, a pocket park 1.5 blocks from our house:

We also had a mini brunch at our 5 day old neighborhood coffee shop- Ultimo:
Which is equally close to our house, just across 22nd street from the park:
We couldn’t have asked for greater weather to explore our new...

Last year we had a blast at our neighborhood Bloktoberfest – every year it gets bigger and better and if you’re in Philly we would strongly encourage you to check it out this upcoming Saturday! It’s technically a fundraiser for our neighborhood, but you may not notice at first because the craft beers are...

It’s the end of September but our deck flowers are still going strong… Unlike our indoor projects which were set aside for some serious traveling and lots of weddings and life and …
Either way, the sky is so blue…
Still lots of blooms!
And dusty millers with geraniums and puffy clouds. Happy Sunday!...
