Madison Square
Two married architects living in an 1870's brick rowhouse on a garden block in Center City Philadelphia. We work, we work on our house, we take pictures with our iphones and try to write a little something that makes sense. What you see is what we did… it’s just how we roll.

Border painting time for the living room. So first step is measuring, then snapping out the lines, then taping up.
We decided we wanted to paint an ellipse around the center ceiling fixture as well… But how do you paint an ellipse? First you have to draw it, and Rob found a great tutorial online for a...

Yes! We’re slowly recovering from June/ early July inspector-prep shenanigans, and preparing for a crazy fall schedule (all good things to come)- but we’re still making some non visible yet decisions and purchases to keep our ongoing house projects moving along. Here to distract you, deck plants!

Despite the heat our garden has been hanging in there nicely.
We have sprinklers set up with a quick connect hose for when it gets really hot, but overall this is a low maintenance garden. (Which is good since we don’t have a lot of extra time with the home renovations.)
The transplanted Hosta is doing well, the Coleus is...

We had two antique grilles to install in the half bath. The first is an antique we found to use as a thru wall grate to the radiator enclosed behind the credenza. The second is an existing grille from the old 2nd flr bathroom that was no longer in use, that we are using instead of the standard ceiling bathroom fan cover. We...

We have a ton of great photos from our stained glass window installation two weeks ago that we still have not posted! So this is the first in a series of posts about this great project.
Let’s start with the before and afters. Believe it or not this is the same room from when we bought the house. No window, half bath,...

We took this weekend “off” to spend some time basking in the sunny glow streaming in thru our permit-less first floor windows…. before jumping back into the multitude of tasks/ projects still to be completed. (You didn’t think we were actually “DONE” done, right?)
We’ve been enjoying...

In preparation for our final inspection we had lots of odds & ends to finish… Such as installing the toilet in the half bath.
You may remember that Kelly was not going to let me put the old toilet back when I took it out to install the trim… So here we are with a new, dual flush, toilet.
Toilets generally go in...

The past three days have been a whirlwind… We completely emptied our workshop (dining room), moved the tools to the basement, cleaned, spackled and primed as part of our clean up efforts for our inspection. I’m exhausted, so here is a series of pics to prove it happened.

We’ve slowly dropped off the blog but that’s only because we’re working feverishly toward a big deadline… Our final city inspection for our permit! So to show you just one of the dozen loose ends we’re tying up, may I present, our credenza door fronts.
Or rather, lack thereof. Here is a progress...
