Fried morel mushrooms

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

Do you have morel mushrooms in your neck of the woods?

Wow. These are the very best mushrooms, and if you cannot find your own around trees or water when they are in season (right about now), you'll pay top dollar. I've seen them from $25 to $50 A POUND at the farmer's market.

Can you imagine? $50 for a pound of...

Tractor love

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

I have one happy husband. Why? Because he's completed step one of becoming a farmer. He (we) bought a tractor.

In true Ryan "I love old rusty things" fashion - he chose a 1952 Allis Chalmers tractor. We bought it from a sweet older man named Jim. Whom Ryan adored. Jim and his wife bought the tractor 37 years ago used....

Flashback: silk-dyed easter eggs

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

I've been MIA lately. Projects are in the works, but going a little slower than normal so there isn't much to share.

Not to mention that I come home from work every day completely exhausted. Making dinner (sometimes) and vegging with Numbers on Netflix is about all I can muster.

But with Easter coming up, I thought it...

The wife's March goals - how'd I do?

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

It's officially my birthday month. The most wonderful month of the year! I'm not one of those people who keeps her birthday a secret and pretends like she doesn't care. It's worth celebrating - ask my husband. I start celebrating on April 1 and sometimes all the way through May, if I'm lucky. (My birthday is April 24,...

Home on the range

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

Well, we have some big news at the Woodwards.

No - not the baby. You already know about him.
No - not that I ate an entire row of Oreos on my own in one sitting. (Don't you dare judge me.)

Ryan and I are officially landowners. We bought 17 acres of property and signed all the papers yesterday.

Eek! So excited.

Every...

Baby gifts

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

I recently put together a little baby gift for Sarah, my friend from Five Camels. Now that she's received it, I want to share.

I think the fabrics in the Bliss line by Moda would be perfect for a little girl. (If I were having a girl, these fabrics would be all over the nursery.) So, I put together a few bibs and a...

Houndstooth quilt in-progress

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

I'd love to have something really exciting to share on the blog. But, I don't.

Mostly, because I've been spending far too many hours working on a houndstooth quilt for the nursery. Which, as usual for Kim, is taking about 300 times longer than I expected. But, it's coming together.

And I know that many of you were also...

Nursery pinwheel mobile

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

When thinking about a nursery mobile, I wanted a few things -
  • Something that would bring in some more pattern to the room.
  • Something that was interesting from the crib perspective, instead of just pretty for an adult to look at from outside the crib.
  • Something that isn't too cheesy or girly.
  • I also wanted it to be
  • ...

Nursery beds

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

Another day of nursery progress - today it's beds. I mentioned that my mom brought home some sheets for the crib, and I kind of love them.

I had originally planned to make crib sheets, but when I saw these cute Harper polka dot crib sheets from Pottery Barn Kids, I knew they'd be perfect. At only $19, it wouldn't be...

Nursery tree trunk table

Authors: Kim @ NewlyWoodwards

Several projects are coming together in baby's room, so it may turn into nursery week here at NewlyWoodwards. Hope you don't mind. If you do, come back next week.

One of Ryan's projects has been this fun tree stump table for next to the rocker - perfect for a bottle, cell phone, glass of wine.... ;) Let's be honest. It...
